A New Golden Era is Nearing


The redevelopment of Old San Juan, Puerta de Tierra, Isla Grande, the Convention District and Condado is the key to ensure an unforgettable experience.

Apart from producing 27,000 direct and indirect jobs, the purpose of the project is to promote the development of tourist and recreational activities and a vibrant residential and commercial sector, creating an ideal location for leisure activities for both locals and tourists.

Currently, the project is focused on the rehabilitation of approximately 90 acres facing the San Juan port area known as Bahía Urbana.

Bahía Urbana will transform a 21-block area facing the San Antonio Canal within the historic San Juan Bay, turning abandoned warehouses and docks into a vibrant, new, diverse neighborhood featuring shopping, dining, hotel, great new places to live, residential areas, impressive places to work as well as safe and inviting open spaces.

  • Over 1,700 new workplaces to live, including units for lease
  • 177,800 square feet of retail shops and a Mercado featuring artisanal and local goods

Convention Center District

Bigger, better and more technologically advanced

The Puerto Rico Convention District is in a 113 acre area located in the heart of San Juan. It represents the transformation of the former site of the Miramar Naval and Coast Guard Base into a new community with residential areas, offices, commercial space, entertainment venues, as well as civic and cultural activities facilities.

It is the home of the recently built 580,000 sq. ft., Puerto Rico Convention Center, featuring a 152,700 sq. ft. exhibition hall, the largest ballroom in the Caribbean with 40,000 sq. ft. and an additional 36,200 sq. ft. of meeting rooms.  The Convention Center has had over 2.3 million visitors in just 5 years.

It also boast the Puerto Rico Coliseum, a multi-purpose, avant-garde facility offering seating for 18,000 people with state-of-the-art sound, lighting, acoustic and theatrical systems. Recently the Coliseum of Puerto Rico was reviewed as one of the most active in terms of ticket sales, exceeding Staples Center in Los Angeles and Wembley Arena in London, according to Pollstar magazine.
